THE SUM OF SAD SMILES is a novel of a diary, written by a 19-year-old boy from a stylized place of perfection, based on a different culture, who is tossed into a fictitious American University, non stylized and based on reality. Sum’s viewpoint on this new world is strictly his own and off-center, because the whole thing baffles him. His dialogue has to be unique, different sounding and structured. And since, .through him, we see this world as he does, you have to pretend to be him as I do. He is not really sure where home was. Or who he really is, or what is real or imagined, including himself. So, everything he sees is questionable. Yet, I must write all of it as totally real. Combine it with supernatural, horror, beauty, fantasy and a quest for love. Not to mention other humans. And secrets within secrets, treading the line between life and death. In other words, writing this was like dancing backwards off the edge of the world. bookfinder4u.com
