About

Living in France can be a challenge, especially when you have to quickly learn how to get along personally and professionally as a non-native speaker. As an American language teacher and writer married into a French family, I had begun work in the Bordeaux region, only to discover that my years of academically-based French language studies had proven to be entirely inadequate for the task at hand. I needed a method that would help me get quickly up to speed -- one that would enable me to recall what I had learned in my years of classes while absorbing the new material being presented at the office and the family dinner table. As I began jotting down what I needed to say, I noticed that certain elements of vocabulary, pronunciation and grammar could be juxtaposed in a way that would make them easier to recall. Relating these elements to each other enabled me to imprint blocks of material to memory, accelerating the ultimate goal: a more complete mastery of French.
