About
Thomas Scarborough
Mirjam Scarborough (nee Meier — 1957-2011) was a Congregational minister, a doctor of philosophy, a co-director of the World Evangelical Alliance's International Institute for Religious Freedom, and executive editor of the International Journal for Religious Freedom. She was treasured for her ministry in the local and area Church. The contents of the book "Called to Mission" were originally presented to the University of Cape Town for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. In September 2009, she obtained her doctorate — yet, tragically, was diagnosed with end-stage bone marrow cancer just three months later. Believing this work to be a treasure, her husband Thomas Scarborough took on the task of preparing it for publication. The book does not merely represent the duplication of a dissertation. Knowing that her health was in decline, Mirjam Scarborough wrote as much for the church as for the university.
