Charles Shere writes on travel, food, hiking, music, theater, and books. He has composed music for the stage, symphony orchestra, solo instruments, voice and chamber ensembles. Based in California, he has traveled extensively in the Netherlands, France, and Italy. At seventy-six, he continues to hold an essentially optimistic view on a wide range of interests, reporting on them as a retired journalist, avoiding academic language and — mostly — political stances.
