Some years ago my wife joined the navy as a doctor. She embarked on a short course with dentists, lawyers, chaplains and other such folk, intended to teach the rudimentals of naval life.
One of the... More > subjects was naval history, not one taken too seriously, and she farmed out the major assessment item to me, knowing that I was interested in these things.
She handed me the list of topics, confiding that she knew very little of any of them and asked that I not take advantage of her ignorance.
The rest is history.
