"My work is dependent on design fundamentals: form, color, and composition. My style explores the relationship between... More > man-made structures and the natural world; the idea of recognizable shapes and structures living within irrational thoughts and emotions. I begin very spontaneously and become more detailed as the composition starts to show itself. The first layers are the most erratic and freeform, combining various colors of paint and pumice and spreading them around with large palette knives. I notice different characters and forms in the middle of the process, which I then nurture and allow development almost at their own will. You will notice little pockets of white and black from the first layer that end up in the final piece which I like to call “skirmishes.” The overall emotion of an abstract landscape is calming, but my work has energy and chaos underneath, so I don’t let you relax completely. I want you to be reassured but involved rather than to zone out." < Less
