Sylvia Hannah
Sylvia has been a dedicated educator, language arts consultant, and reading specialist for over 40 years. She has taught at all grade levels in British Columbia, Alberta, England, and California, and provides professional development in the field of literacy, to school staffs and school districts. Sylvia has completed classroom action research, in a large urban school district, on the prevention of literacy difficulties in kindergarten and grade one. She is the author of a series of children’s books and co-author of a literacy screening tool. Her interests are: - helping students (of all ages) understand and remember what they read, using visual imagery - helping students (of all ages) plan detailed and well-sequenced written language, using organized sketches - helping students (of all ages) use more complex vocabulary - helping students (of all ages) read and spell words accurately, using multi-sensory linguistic principles Contact: [email protected]
