Having done the writing challenge at NaNoWriMo for four years, I wanted to complete the process, and actually create a book you could handle.
NaNoWriMo - for those who don't know, involves writing a 50,000 word novel in a month, along with thousands of others - rather like a fun run marathon...
These are not yet honed books, just a manifestation of what you can write in a month, if you get your head down to the challenge! Then ask a friend to make you a cover. I didn't edit them much, so please be aware of their raw state - just playing at publishing.
To try the different formats I also put my mother's teaching notes up.
My friend Mick (RIP) had always been working on a book, so as executor I compiled his papers as best I could.
Oh, and I have pulled together some bits and pieces I have written over the years, for magazines, blogs, etc.
One day you may find my autobiography appearing here, but that seems like a long slow process...

Infinite Monkeys
By Toby Philpott
Paperback:
$10.84
Ships in 3–5 business days
In a quiet English village, archaeologists excavating a Templar farm seem pretty exciting to the residents, and the school... More > teacher has the idea of creating a treasure hunt for the children.
Some of the locals have secrets which they don’t want revealed, and all this exploring threatens to accidentally expose things so carefully concealed. And maybe at least one mischief-maker is laying false trails for the fun of it. The diggers plod on with their mundane task, hopeful of some great discovery, but resigned to the fact that their work usually remains the recovery of fragments of knowledge to add to our picture of the past, rather than the treasure and bones that enthusiastic local people often dream about. In this gentle tale some puzzles do eventually get solved, a few mysteries revealed, and then life more or less returns to normal, with perhaps a couple of surprises, some happy endings and an pleasant future to look forward to – but no great revelations, no improbable outcomes and no real disasters. < Less |
