About
Jeanne Yawman
Reared on a hilly wooded farm in the rural town of Rush, Jeanne’s childhood in the late 1920’s and early 30’s was during Depression years, living on an abandoned farm restored by her father. A country girl, Jeanne loved horses and followed her passion. She sketched horses, raised and trained Arabians, and owned and managed boarding stables for nearly fifty years. Through the years she kept a diary, recording family history and compiling several albums of stories, poems and pictures. “Scratchings from the Rustic Quill” were articles written while she was Rush Town Historian. Others were in horse magazines like the old “Bit and Spur.” Her poems have found recognition with the National Library of Poetry. Her latest book is an anthology of farm life and family history, from her ancestors to the family she knew and to her children’s generation. Jeanne and her daughter Terry have published the following books:
