A Broadstone Miscellany is just what it says – a potted history of the village, and a collection of stories, facts and oddities that make Broadstone the place it is today. Broadstone has had an interesting and varied history despite only having been ‘on the map’ since Isaac Taylor referenced Broadstone Pond in 1765. I only hope that within these pages the reader will find many quirky, abstruse and interesting facts about a wide range of Broadstone related topics. From its origins; the coming of the railway and its growth throughout the 20th century Broadstone has always had a lively and vibrant community spirit – long may this continue. Featuring many old and unusual photographs of the area to illustrate the changes that have taken place in ‘the village’ as Broadstone has developed over the years.
