The book is a companion to the Festival Sermons of Martin Luther published with it. Resourced purely by citations from Luther in those sermons the roles of faith and reason are set next to and contrasted with each other. His commentary from early on or even before the enlightenment are prescient as it predicts where and why reason and faith will clash establishing proper boundaries for each and where reason will find itself in foreign territory where its evaluations and helpful attributes are useless.
