After years of reading other's tales of small boat passages, an aspiring blue water navigator purchases a twenty one foot sailboat and embarks on a solo voyage where passing the Final Exam is not optional... A true story from a time in the not too distant past, when dreams beckoned; radio operators conversed in morse code; arithmetic was done with pencil and paper; and the only ship to be seen for weeks on end in that part of a vast ocean was the tiny vessel that held me only inches from the deep.
