Tom Archer was a reluctant college student in turn-of-the-century Belgium. He trades the career chosen by his parents for a life at sea. Guided by fate, he meets his soulmate and tries to keep her in the face of literal and figurative storms. In just six months, he becomes a man with a life much different than he - or his parents - could have ever imagined.
