The book begins with a focus on ancient cosmology and history and places the early chapters of Genesis within this ancient context, developing the theme of the cosmos as God's temple and humanity as his priests. The book proceeds through the rest of Genesis, exploring the themes of God's faithfulness to his Creation and to his Covenant by which he has worked to restore fallen humanity to himself through Abraham and his descendants and ultimately through Jesus Christ.
