CONTROL

“CONTROL”, an exhibition catalog showcasing the work of 79 California women artists, was organized by the Women’s Caucus for Art, curated by Karen Gutfreund and juried by the Guerrilla Girls West. Organized around the theme of control (or lack of it), the show explores the artists interpretation of all methods of control: internal, external, positive, negative, over life events and over technology, empowering or dehumanizing, politically correct - or not. This collection of work addresses many issues, including statements on war, politics, ethnicity, gender identity and stereotypes, domestic violence, religion, money and the environment. The exhibition was held at SomArts San Francisco, August 2009 and will be at the Ceres Gallery, NYC in February 2011.
