Galen Leonhardy's articles have appeared in The Chronicle of Higher Education, Truthout, Rip Rap, College Composition and Communication, Teaching English in the Two-Year College, and College Quarterly, among others. He has also authored chapters in Beyond Outcomes and Silent No More. Leonhardy has volunteered at the local Martin Luther King, Jr. Center where he tutored elementary and middle school students, at a local Catholic Worker house where he had a monthly soup and public discussion night, at a literacy program in Northern Idaho, and at homeless shelters in the Midwest and Pacific Northwest. He is a reader for Teaching English in the Two-Year College and provides editorial support for scientific writers at the Harbin Institute of Technology and other universities in China. In 2014, he went to the Cordillera Mountains on Luzon Island in the Philippines where he studied the influence of global capital on the indigenous art forms of the Igorot people. Most recently, Leonhardy has authored Skipping Stones: A Memoir of Teaching, which is published by Purple Breeze press.
