Tom Deneire (° 1981) studied Classics at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and obtained a PhD in Latin and Greek Literature from the same university. He did research on Early Modern Latin correspondence and on the interplay of Neo-Latin and vernacular poetry in the Dutch Golden Age. Today he works as a software engineer for the University of Antwerp Library. Bertin Deneire (° 1952) studied Dutch, German and English at Torhout Teacher Training College. For most of his professional life, he was employed as a teacher and translator. During his spare time, he also worked as a battlefield guide in the Ypres Salient. Over the past decades, he has published a number of articles on war-related issues. He is now a trustee of the Talbot House Association that runs the historic soldiers’ club of the same name in his hometown Poperinge.
