The Worker's Pamphlet: On Ableism

This pamphlet is meant to be a simplified study regarding ability and the societal discrimination of those with disabilities, ableism. Ability is something everyone has at varying levels. It is not a standardized phenomenon and is dependent on the conditions one is in. For example, just as a fire will not be able to start on damp wood, one in a wheelchair is not able to go up if the only way to do so is through stairs. We cannot think of ability as something only tied to the individual. To do so is the error of ignoring the overarching systems around us that both cause and enable what we consider disability or even illness. Health is something that has to be grappled with very heavily in the revolution. It is one of the most important fields in a revolution that is often overlooked in movements. Due to it being overlooked this results in poor working conditions, insufficient work structures, and poor communication in organizations. Most potently, this all results in little cohesion between the people and organizations that do not last due to structures not being something people identify with/are able to do. Comrade health is one of the most important values a revolution seeking to liberate the people must have if genuine. I hope this pamphlet aids in cementing this principle, offers the reader more self-awareness and a better understanding of others, especially those who are rendered disabled by capitalism.
