With a life already full of tragedy at a young age, Aryn Macias can't see anything but dark clouds on the horizon for her and her brother, Israel; however, this is no ordinary girl. She was born as one of the Affected, a special group, or race of people that were genetically affected by the nuclear holocaust that took place over one hundred years ago. Their trademark 'dead eyes' set them apart from everyone else, allowing them to be thrust into the dirt as bottom class citizens.
