Caught On the Cusp

"Stubber," the principal character in Caught on the Cusp, really does seem to be trapped between two worlds. Even as a gifted toddler, he longs to escape drunken parents and return to some celestial haven apparently occupied by his beloved and mysterious Anima, a beautiful, wraith-like girl who appears to him during crises. This yearning remains throughout his chaotic life, as suggested by his visions of running beside a glittering deer or soaring with giant condors up to the edges of heaven. Psychosis does not block him from triumphs or from finding his soul mate,Lindy; but tragedy stalks them both. Then a dizzying twist at the end leaves one pondering, perhaps, the whens, whats and hows of the story--possibly even the validity of earthbound perception.
