Stan Byers has been betting NFL football games for twenty years. Like most people involved in this activity, the money he has lost over that time well exceeds his winnings. And, like many gamblers, Stan has a fantasy of just one time knowing the outcome of a game before it is played. But he is rational enough to understand that the realization of such a happening will never take place. But a mystery person named Henry Budnick has entered Stan’s life, and he has given Stan twenty winning bets in a row. Before disappearing for good, Budnick gives Stan a final game to bet. Convinced of Budnick’s omnipotence and good intentions, Stan bets $100,000 on the game. What happens next is at first a near total tragedy, followed by an ultimate triumph which deepens Stan’s love for his wife, gives him a new outlook on life, and restores his belief in God.
