Oud Explorations ebook

A musical instrument book on the Arabic oud exploring the instrument and its music, for players who have taken up this instrument in Western countries, and who wish to progress to a more intermediate or advanced level of playing. This book contains about 80 oud exercises with accompanying instructions and explanations. The Exercises are mostly designed to fit on a single page. They are challenging but playable for new and intermediate level players. The exercises explore the instrument range beyond what is required for vocal music, and explore different music that can be played on the instrument, including Arabic, Turkish, European, Japanese and Indonesian extracts. They are a mixture of existing oud repertoire exercises, and new compositions and transcriptions. The notation uses the bass clef as well as the treble clef, and uses familiar Western notation throughout (No quarter tones). Please see book preview on this site.
