Eric's Special Gift

Eric’s Special Gift is a novel that focuses on a rural family that is split apart by the plotting of the wife’s brother. Through an unusual belief in the Bible and magic, Eric receives the ability to kill people with his index finger. This strange and remarkable ability eventually forces Eric to confront his ambivalent feelings for the father, Rex, who left Eric and his mother when Eric was still a boy. Rex returns ten years later to find his wife, Pacific, held prisoner in her own room by her brother, Sneak, and a woman named Jezebel. Eric has left the family farm and is working in the city to support himself and send money back to his mother. Rex rescues Pacific who knew he was coming through a fatidic reading of the Bible. They journey together toward a final confrontation between Rex, who desires reconciliation, and Eric, whose mind has been poisoned against Rex by years of Sneak's brainwashing.
