(re)Garde à Trois is a piece for a mixed trio, soundtracks, and video that explores themes of oppression and rebellion. Three different media clash with one another as each of them struggles with contradicting elements of expression and repression, creating an imaginary arena where these forces battle each other to exhaustion. This idea originally stemmed from the concept of closets, and the act of hiding a part from one’s identity. It thus repeats an ongoing mantra: “Je garde le mots muets” (I keep the words muted). This piece is a sister piece to a work titled Garde, composed in 2019.
