In the year 2008, Dan and his younger brother James were framed for the murder of a young lady, Miss Elvin Kerubo and they both got arrested. Dan was released from police custody while his brother was taken to court. On the day of his brother‟s trial, Dan went to court and confessed to the murder because he didn‟t want his younger brother to go to prison. Dan was thereafter charged and convicted for first-degree murder. He was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment. His lawyer appealed the case and they won. The real murderer was arrested thereafter and the culprits who helped him rig the trial at the first go faced justice. Despite being a work of fiction, the novel accurately portrays the on-goings within the Kenyan judicial system and the society at large. It delves into the societal vices that culminate to gross injustices more often than not to the common mwananchi. Nevertheless, the climax of the plot justifiably ends pointing out that all is not lost
