The Ultimate PTLLS Guide

The Preparing to teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) award is for those who are or who want to be a teacher, tutor or trainer and need to be able to plan, prepare and implement learning for a specialist area. PTLLS is the initial award, which has been developed to provide a threshold license to teach in the FE sector in England. Additional benefits of the PTLLS award are that you automatically become an IFL Member when you pass the course. (Institute for Learning, 2010) From passing this award you can then put AIFL letters after your name and potential employers will recognize your membership and qualification. This award also leads to higher education courses at Level 5, such as the DTLLS this is equivalent to the old Cert ED or in-service PGCE. This is possibly something you never thought you would ever do or achieve when you left school with a handful of GCSE’s or A Levels?
