American Hate Speech In Real Time

Over 90 mins at time of writing, I read the user comments section for three live streaming video broadcasts on YouTube, discussing gun control legislation in the USA following the recent El Paso and Dayton shootings a mere 36 hours ago. 250 mass shooting in less than so many days: it seemed cowboy culture was what Trump was returning America to, in all its vainglorious assaults on human reason. Not being American myself but hearing so much about White Supremacy in the media of late, I wanted to see a representative section of general users, not media commentators and their professional guests – to gauge middle America: Trump’s “base”. I went looking for the real America, for evidence of what truly made America great, if it could be that way again, assuming it ever was. I was somewhat astonished by what I read – the vitriol, the racism, sexism, anti-Semitism. Is this the real America?
