Āvā, a young Iranian woman, is a successful police officer in England who, while arresting suspects and solving various cases, is also searching for answers to her own personal and familial fears and voids. Sanaz Eghtesadinia is an Iranian writer and critic, born in Tir 1360 (July 1981). After graduating in journalism from Allameh Tabataba’i University, she began her professional career in 1999 with Gozaresh-e Film magazine and soon became one of the active figures in Iran’s cultural and artistic press. Her articles and reviews were published in journals such as Cinema-ye No, Chelcheragh, Payam-Avare, Ketab-e Hafteh, Mardom va Jame’eh, Iran, Hamshahri, Bani Film, and many other newspapers of the early 2000s. After emigrating to the United Arab Emirates, she became one of the founders of the “Dubai Playhouse Film and Theatre Club.” She later continued her professional path in England, where she attended the screenwriting program at City, University of London, and the crime fiction writing course at the University of Cambridge. Eghtesadinia entered the field of fiction with the publication of the short story collection Kanapeh (The Couch, Ney Publishing, 2021). One year later, she published the novel The Hand of God; Maradona, also with Ney Publishing. She is also active as an instructor of crime literature in writing workshops.
