Street Smart

Lindy navigated the busy street with ease. This city has been her home for all of her life and at this time of the day, people walked this particular street in unusually great numbers. She thought its Ok. She knew a lot of sideways and alleyways to get into. It wasn’t hard. She was street smart, she knew which streets were safe and which ones were not depending on the time of day. Knowing that this crowd would not thin out soon, she mentally calculated the routes to take in order to get to their house fast. Routes were considered and eventually discarded as she considered the likelihood of being accosted or mugged at this time of day. She continued pondering over the possibilities until she settled on one – the alley at the middle of Johnson Street. It was the fastest route home possible at this hour and it was mostly deserted at this time. Rounding the corner she crossed the street turned two lefts and was on Johnson Street by the time she emerged from the alley.
