‘Controlled’ is about a ten year old boy named Felix who becomes so absorbed in a PlayStation game that it begins to have a negative effect on his mind, body and relationships. When school isn’t ‘getting in the way’ Felix spends his days and nights playing a game called ‘zombie carnage 3 death by inferno’ . He is excited one Friday afternoon about the upcoming school holidays so he can spend every waking moment playing his PlayStation. He falls into a slump of gaming and eating junk food just immersed in his own rubbish and foul body odour, his room is always a mess and dark. Somedays he wouldn’t even get out of his pyjamas, he was oblivious to what was going on around him and starts to neglect his family and friends. Felix’s eyes become blood shot, he develops bad posture and a lack of energy and interest in everything else. On day three of the school holidays the power goes out for several days leaving him feeling frustrated and sad. Over several days is is forced to get out into the real world and be present with his family and friends which in time changes his mood and attitude towards life, he begins to feel so much more energized and he develops a new excitement for life and this opens his mind to the endless possibilities life has to offer. When the power comes back on Felix is stunned at first, he doesn’t know how to feel in that moment. But in the end he makes a positive decision about his future and well being.
