Laura Decamara

Laura was born in San Diego California in 1980. She was removed from her biological parents as an infant because she was malnourished and "failed to thrive" as documented by the social worker and psychologist. She was later diagnosed with a learning disability. She then moved from one foster home to another, suffering physical and emotional abuse. Suffering with the normal teenage challenges of life that were magnified by her disability, she became suicidal and depressed. But then one day her parents mentioned a beautiful phrase she liked and remembered: "Beauty is its own excuse for Being". When she was in a library one day, she came across Ralph Waldo Emerson’s writings and read that same phrase in his poem The Rhodora. Later in high school she came across Emily Dickinson's poetry and she knew then she wanted to become a writer. She persisted and was driven to write, despite the criticism from others that "You have a disability, you will never be a writer!" Today she is published! on November 18, 2017 Laura had her first speech and signing at Banes and Noble in Mira mesa, her book is on sale today with her signed autograph. On January 25, 2018 Laura's book called The Heart Of Poetry part 11 (second edition) was put into circulation at San Diego Downtown Library in a program called Local Author Showcase. Then again on January 25, 2019 she put her book in San Diego Downtown Library in a program called Local Author Showcase The Heart Of Poetry First Edition
