I am Mike Forbes, born 1940, retired academic biologist. I discovered Louis when aged about 15, starting with the Hot Seven’s Potato Head Blues and the All Stars Take it Satch 45 rpm EP at about the same time. Some time later I acquired the Symphony Hall EP with Body and Soul and Steak Face and later a string of 33 rpm LPs. Now I have a good collection of CDs and books. After a career of teaching and research, which included a great deal of literature searching as well as writing books and scientific articles, I decided research for a book on the All Stars after I retired. The material was first compiled as a web site and then updated and reformatted into book and ebook form.
