Professor Curtis Meyer has been on the faculty at Carnegie Mellon University since 1993 where he has won awards for outstanding teaching. His books have been developed from the many courses he has taught at CMU. The author also carries out research at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility in Newport News Virginia. He is currently the spokesperson of the flagship experiment in a large upgrade at the laboratory, the GlueX experiment. This experiment will search for new particles whose existence and properties will help to explain why quarks are forever trapped inside of protons and neutrons.
