Georgette Orr is the founder of FirstGen Collective and the author of Room by Room: Reflections on Building Without a Blueprint, published June 2026. With more than twenty years of experience in operational risk management and large-scale transformation at Fortune 100 companies, she writes from inside the professional environments her work describes. Room by Room uses architectural metaphor to examine what first-generation college graduates and underrepresented professionals carry through institutional spaces — the over-preparation, the code-switching, the hypervigilance — and reframes those adaptations as evidence of intelligence operating under extraordinary conditions. Written entirely in second person, the book centers recognition over prescription.
