JD Eident in writing letters to friends and acquaintances, is in the habit of sending a rhyming verse or two along with those letters. These books are his collected rhymes and writings to date. Now in his early 60's, Mr. Eident continues to send his rhymes and heartfelt verses of reminiscence, faith & common occurrence; to any who would enjoy such simple pleasures. He has published three such volumes of simple poems and prose writings. Eident has also picked up the historian's pen, and published a work of history involving the town of Mason, Illinois. The title manuscript in this work was written by Hubert Irey Gibson. In his fifth work, "On Prairie Winds," Eident has collaborated with the late Timothy Taylor on collection of correspondence that once passed between Dr. James Newton Matthews of Mason, Illinois and James Whitcomb Riley of Indiana. Eident's latest work which came out in 2019 is a nearly year-long daily journal written in 1866 by 14-year-old James Newton Matthews.
