Ron "the Mod" Black

Ron Black is a writer, artist, chef, and historian with a lifelong passion for creativity, culture, and craftsmanship. Originally from Providence, Rhode Island, Ron’s journey has been anything but conventional, from the kitchens of Johnson & Wales University in the late 1980s, to the expressive halls of art school in the early 1990s, to earning a master’s degree in history later in life. An accomplished author, Ron has penned several books on cocktails, cooking, and cultural history, each infused with a reverence for tradition and a flair for the modern. His work often explores the ways in which style, ritual, and rebellion intertwine, whether through the rhythm of a cocktail shaker or the pages of a historical narrative. As an author, Ron explores the cultural flavors of the 20th century through his books. Modtails: Cocktails for Mods and Modtails II blend classic and original recipes with a sense of style only a true mixologist could bring. He’s penned deep dives into English pub fare, medieval cuisine, and tiki party culture, always balancing culinary history with a dash of irreverent flair.
