By day Peter Burt is a sober academic and, more specifically, musicologist, author of 'The Music of Toru Takemitsu' and other writings on contemporary art music. By night, however, he metamorphoses into a wannabe writer of fictions inspired by sources as diverse as the Brothers Grimm, Jean de la Fontaine, Frank Kafka, James Joyce, Joy Adamson and Karl Frisch, author of 'Aus dem Leben der Bienen'. The first fruit of his lucubrations, 'Fables', was published four years ago, to a (two-part) chorus of acclaim by both its readers.
