I spent over two years developing my ideas around the title, “The Saints Who Built America,” and 18 months researching and writing the details. I was blown away by every step of its history. The research became a passion project rewarded by every page as I went. Though the Saints are 1% of the population, they have influenced more for the benefit of mankind than their majority counterparts within a Christian nation. So, it is history and culture that should not be ignored, and especially not forgotten. As such, publishing the book is far from the end. I never intended to write a book. I was interested in scripts for short video essays and documentaries on LDS influence on US history. That has not changed. Now, in promoting this book, I intend to gain the interest of producers and filmmakers to produce an excellent docuseries on the Saints and their impact on American life as we know it. Shanahan received his BA in Education in the school of performing arts from Brigham Young University Idaho, and a Masters degree in Organizational Leadership from Brandman University, Irvin California. He has run businesses teaching Ballroom, Martial Arts, Olympic Fencing, and Tai Chi. After COVID-19 shut down most schools and social programs in communities, Shanahan found new opportunities in joining the Colorado Air National Guard. He is married with one daughter, and has two dachshunds.
