The Line Between Us is a collection of poems exploring the human stories left behind by the Partition of India and Pakistan. Beyond maps, borders, and political histories lies another story—the story of homes abandoned, families separated, women silenced, memories carried across generations, and hearts that never learned to recognize a border. Through poetry, this book moves through Punjab, rivers, trains, abandoned homes, memories, love, loss, women, power, and belonging. It asks what happens when a line drawn on paper becomes a wound carried by millions. These poems are not only about 1947. They are about the memories that survived it. About grandparents who remembered homes they could never return to. About children who inherited stories of places they had never seen. About women whose suffering was often erased from history. About rivers and roots that never learned which side they belonged to. The Line Between Us is a reflection on what borders can divide—and what they never truly can. Because countries can be separated by lines. But memory has no border. Love has no passport. And the land remembers.
