‘the mere idea of love in time was a refuge of understanding’
In the late 1990s, the author finds a book on a train, ‘Love in the Time of Cholera’ by Gabriel García Márquez. Many years later, she sits in her parents’ house watching her dad’s health deteriorate. In her old room, she finds the book again and starts to black out pages. ‘Always’ and ‘love’, the first two words she circles. This is the beginning of a journey that will take her through a difficult time of loss, from deep grief to a first glimpse of healing over the course of 344 very short pieces.
