A collection 199 short biographical sketches of preachers associated with John Wesley in the early years of Wesleyan Methodism. These are not hagiographies but present these men with all their faults, some falling away from their profession, some joining heterodox groups. But most pursued the preaching of the gospel of grace, even in the face of serious opposition from the establishment. In our modern era it is to be hoped that God would again raise up men of such perseverence and faithfulness.
