This is the fourth book in the memoirs of Charles G. Villa-Lovos. In continues where Volume III, "The Shallow Cup," left off and it ends shortly after his marriage to Esther, his second wife. Together with Volume I, "The Nightingale's Song," and Volume II, "In the Time of Roses," this quartet of memoirs covers the first four decades of the author's life.
