Twenty One: Escalator

Standing behind a nice couple on the escalator in the Metro: it was a long ride to the surface, and I started thinking about a conversation I had about the nature of the mechanical and machines. The steps rumbled on, the wall formed an undulating screen for the shadows of the couple. Everything repeats, even if only imperfectly.
