Strong Preference for Gentile Girls

As Mormon parents in the days of President Harry S Truman, Ken and Emily settle upon three policies covering the time when their five children reach dating age. One policy calls for the Griffith children to date within their own religion. The second policy stipulates that those kids are to bring over for Sunday dinner any person that any of them has gone out on two consecutive dates. Created by Ken's wife, the third policy declares that whenever the Griffith boys bring new girlfriends home to meet the family, those young ladies are to go with Emilyo into the kitchen to work with her. Emily and Ken's second oldest child, Doyle, dislikes those three policies, especially the one urging that he date within his own religion. He goes against that policy, eventually placing himself in a position where he must decide over the future of his relationship with his Methodist girlfriend, Camille Mason, when she starts looking into the Mormon faith.
