The main content of the book is all preserved poems written by Didrik Ferkingstad (1873 - 1957) from Ferkingstad, Karmøy, Norway. All poems are written in Norwegian, most of them in nynorsk, but a few are written in riksmål. The book also contains an introduction to the author and his life (also translated to English) reprinted from the book "Spor dei sette" ("Traces they left behind") by Martin Gjersvik. Didrik Ferkingstad has quite a few descendants in America, many of them living in the Seattle area.
