The Robbie Touch

This is about a naval officer who was offered the U.S. Legion of Honor, wore prestigious medals and pioneered participative management in his ships. Yet he was not above sailing brazenly into harbor flying a flag carrying a lewd message in Eskimo hieroglyphics and sending saucy signals to his superiors. Long Robbie Robertson was a Canadian navy captain who charted the Northwest Passage, sailed the first large vessel through it, and was a key advisor in Arctic navigation to the U.S. Navy, commanding it's eastern supply mission for the DEW Line early warning system. In a colorful career he fought dangerous ammunition fires and sailed in square-riggers and nuclear submarines.
