Tunnels and Taureaux

Matthew has no rapport with his parents and is lonely during the long summer holidays. He finds the entrance to a long forgotten system of Roman storage rooms and tunnels which he investigates alone. His parents arrange a holiday in France with Matthew’s French godfather and his family. Jean Philippe the eldest son extracts a promise that Matthew will not enter the tunnels alone again but promises that he will visit England the following year and they would explore together for safety. Matthew keeps the promise, he experiences many strange cultural activities before returning to his home town of Leeds.
