the mermaid's curse

A book with two alternate endings. Eric Sanders gets involved in a questionable secret society that may be connected to the mermaid that he encountered that altered his life. One mermaid struggles with following her family's tradition or breaking away from her family tradition of seeing humans as playthings and food. Surrounding this are sinister events such as human trafficking and slavery in America. Women and children are being sold on the market and forced into slavery. To the casual observer these slaves don't seem any different than those women who choose to sell themselves for sex. Two crime families are at war with each other in a small town, while corrupt police officers have their hands in the mix. How does this questionable secret society plays apart in all of this, and the most important question of all is what is the mermaid's curse.
