ORDSOCCS Creative Writing Group

This book is to celebrate the work that came out of the creative writing sessions at Ordsall Community Cafe that ran from January 2010 until June. Some the work produced has been performed live at St Philip's Church on Chapel Street, as part of the celebration of Refugee Week, and the group performing a selection of their songs live on stage at the Ordsall Festival in July. Local people from Ordsall, Salford and beyond came regularly to the Cafe and startled the organisers by producing not just poetry and stories, but also radio plays, and then songs – with hardly any input from the 'professionals'. The experience proved, yet again, that ordinary people possess more than enough talent and drive to make creative work, but perhaps need the opportunity to be heard and the promise of an outlet for their work to be seen. This book is the final effort by that group to ensure that there is some record of the achievements of those few months.
