The Diamond Lens

This little classic is one of the earliest American science fiction stories. It tells the story of a scientist so obsessed with his research that he stops at nothing---deception, theft and even murder---to achieve his ends. He ultimately succeeds, but at price even he never anticipated. Originally published in 1858.
